A little flash of silver in your hand
And then I feel a tug upon my chest
My heart has now been given to the best
I wonder if I’ll ever understand
I can’t pretend my life was closely planned
You came as sweetest serendipity
And locked my heart and carried off the key
I wonder if I’ll ever understand
The greatest gift from any foreign land
Has wrapped me up and carried me away
In love with her is how I’ll surely stay
I wonder if I’ll ever understand
A little flash of silver in your hand
I wonder if I’ll ever understand
Author notes
An Echo sonnet, a form I came up with while playing with a Kyrielle sonnet,
Rhymed A1bbA2 accA2 addA2 A1A2, that is the first and fourth lines are repeated
as the couplet and the fourth line is also the eighth and twelfth. All in
iambic pentameter (although IP is not compulsory)
