The last dreamer

He used to live in soft romantic dreams
A perfect love was always on the way
Is anyone as foolish as he seems?
There are some dogs who’ll never have their day

He must have bought a thousand girls a treat
A bunch of flowers, a meal, a birthday card
And every girl he meets thinks he is sweet
So why is he alone and battle-scarred?

Perhaps one day he’ll meet that special girl
Who’ll want to hear each word he has to say
Until he does he’ll only get to twirl
If he decides the time has come to pay

I hope that soon somebody shares his bed
I won’t believe romantic dreams are dead
