The lover’s lament

The sun descends to bring about the night
And with the sun the lover’s mood is downed
There is no joy without a little light
There is no light when she is not around
My love ignores my pleas as well she might
For I am not as great as can be found
And yet inside I know my love is right
A humble love can still be as profound
Perhaps the day will come when she’ll invite
Me to her side to listen to the sound
Of such sweet lips as hers as they recite
Her love for one who crawls upon the ground
Until the day returns and brings such bliss
My temper shall remain as dark as this
