The Lucky Penny

A lucky penny shone across the street
She picked it up and thought her life would change
A bus arrived and stopped upon her feet
The ways of lady luck are rather strange
The doctor at the hospital said “Yes,
They’ll be all right it’s just a nasty bruise”
Her crutches slipped, she landed in a mess
And broke both legs, they’ll take six weeks to fuse.
They took her home and settled her in bed
Which promptly broke and left her in a sprawl
A pilot who was flying overhead
Then lost control and crashed into her wall
And as she died she thought “I’m going mad …
Who knew a penny’s luck could be so bad?”
