The Moon’s Daughter

Her silver smile still hanging in the sky,
Ignites your face and sets my heart aflame.
Responding to sweet Cupid’s ancient game,
Your arms are bold and yet your eyes are shy.
With gentle words you push aside my try
Yet I hear “yes” each time you breathe my name.
That smiling Moon must know she owns the blame;
She’s taught you how to tell a lover’s lie.
Reluctantly I start to turn aside
But you relent and lead me to your heart,
With kisses strewn to help me on the way.
The Moon reveals a truth the sun can hide,
That subtle stops are perfect for a start,
And we will stay together until day.
Author notes
