Intricate tracings defining the stone
Fences of beauty keep each to its own
Spirals and patterns in silver and gold
Fossilised life is kept safe in the fold

Motion implied by the windings of wire
Colours of metal that dance like a fire
Stone in the centre with lustre and shine
Held by a wrapping of smithing so fine

Beaten and twisted to shapes that reflect
Treating the form of the stone with respect
A jewel man made that enhances the sight
Beautiful fossil that shines in the light

You have created a fine piece of art
Is it now worn by one close to your heart?

Author notes
I was about to write it isn’t in any particular form, but it appears to be more
or less a non-iambic sonnet.
