A novelist and poet from the West.
American, though born in Germany.
The Post Office once gave this man his nest
Until a publisher could set him free.
He drank and smoked his way through what he wrote
But women found him rather to their taste
Some of his work is much to raw to quote
The rest of it is rather highly placed
Los Angeles was always in his heart
The town he learned and loved in every way
I found his writings rather hard to start
I’m glad a friend convinced me I should stay
I haven’t read him much, I cannot lie
I’m pretty sure that he would say “Don’t try”
