The Proctors at The Doctor’s

The two of them had never liked complaining
But sometimes there are things that must be done.
There’s little point unless you are attaining,
The special moments people label “fun”.
When they were wed some things were unexpected
But every day they’d found a little more.
If you’re not shy and nothing is rejected
Perhaps you’ve got as good a life in store.
So now the pair are talking to their doctor —
They’re ninety and they’re not enjoying sex.
The Doctor blinks and speaks to Mr Proctor,
Self conscientiously, while polishing his specs.
“When did you both experience this dawning?”
“Just once last night and twice again this morning …”
