The strongest bond

You are, to me, the sun in winter skies,
The beauty in a drab unbroken grey.
When life has turned all songs to artless sighs
You are the pen that puts words back in play.
You are the warmth that’s missing in the air,
The golden light that brightens every heart.
Forgotten wine you’d ask a friend to share
The growing thaw that tells the spring to start.
What’s left to say, what similes remain,
What else can I reply without a blush?
You’ll always be my shelter in the rain,
My place of peace when life becomes a rush.
You cannot leave, love’s far too strong a glue,
And all I ask is you keep being you.
