The test

Throughout the years since man began his reign
In all the halls where he has pitched his throne
His mother has been there to bear the pain
I fear he’ll never hear her plaintive moan
He’s undone all of nature’s careful past
Her beauty ripped apart by venal lust
Each generation must outdo the last
They fail to see that all will come to dust
We have to learn to grow and not destroy
Preserve the things that we cannot replace
When we can understand what we employ
We’ll earn the right to cast aside disgrace
For Man to show he really has some worth
He must undo the rape of Mother Earth
