The Truth!

One saying that I never thought was true
Now seems to fit experience quite well.
It’s several years since I bid youth adieu
And in the mirror that’s not hard to tell.
When I was young I knew youth was the thing,
Experience was such a waste of time,
But now I value all that it may bring
And think naivety should be a crime.
So if, like me, you think you’ve passed halfway
Yet still believe you’ve got a lot to give
You’ll find these are the easiest words to say
As you ignore the years and start to live.
Of lovers, jokes and almost all the rest
The truth is that a good old one is best!
