The Up Side?

Bank holiday Mondays aren’t meant to be wet
They’re sunshine and walks in the park
Today’s like the dentist, or dog to the vet
Not chasing your girl after dark
There ought to be ice-cream and strawberries too
Not wrapping yourself in your coat
Won’t somebody somewhere show clouds what to do
Before I need boots and a boat
I want to see ladies in skirts up to here
Not bundles of bad-tempered rush
So give me a sky that is totally clear
And then don’t get killed in the crush
Bank holiday weather is getting me down
I have to go out in the murk
But one thing about it still means I won’t frown
At least it means I’m not at work!
