The Weather for Cats

Liquidly languorous, laze in the sun
None of them mind that the work isn’t done
Slowly inspecting the plants by the path
Eyeing the sparrows that splash in the bath
But when you’re preparing to stretch on the fence
Chasing wild birds doesn’t make any sense
Draped like a rug on the back of a chair
A tail in slow motion is stirring the air
Mornings can pass without moving at all
Till shadows start stealing the warmth of the wall
Strutting sedately it’s time for his lunch
He’ll purr for some food when it comes to the crunch
