Through tears I feel beginnings of a smile
My Uncle Ron was always smiles to me.
Although I hadn’t seen him for a while,
I know that now that’s how he’ll always be.

The tortoises, the jokes, and so much more;
He always had the time and space for us.
He knew exactly what an Uncle’s for,
A friendly face and never any fuss.

The world today’s a duller, sadder place,
A light went out that shined for many years.
We can’t afford to lose a happy face
But his will last long after shedding tears.

So, Uncle Ron, I’ll raise my mug of tea
You showed us all a better way to be!
