There’s the slightest imperfection in the smile inside your eyes
And the whiteness of reflection shows the style of simple sighs
But the tightness of rejection squeezes bile from all your lies
You never really saw me as a lover
Why didn’t you just treat me like a brother?

When the merest aspiration whether real or just on loan
Takes the dearest alteration and I feel for what’s my own
Then the nearest altercation puts the steel inside your tone
Why don’t you ever love me like a lover
Instead of fighting with me like a brother

I want your tender loving kisses not your pity and complaint
I would render you my missus and my pretty little saint
But the sender of those hisses hold a city full of taint
Maybe your a hater not a lover
Or maybe you just see me as a brother

Author notes
just practicing and trying out rhymes and meters. I may come back and make it
into a poem, but for now it just is.
