Unintended consequences

Life finds the strangest ways to get along;
An unintended act may make things right,
Sometimes the good’s found when you’re doing wrong;
The rudest word may seem, to some, polite.
Life tries to hide the ways to happiness,
A broken stile conceals the smoothest path.
A weekend’s work may mend a month of stress,
You simply can’t foresee the aftermath.
But don’t just hope that things will work it out,
You have to try to do the best you can.
Uncertainty replaces certain doubt
When you embark upon your best laid plan.
But now and then please raise your glass with me,
We’ll drink a toast to serendipity.
