Ups and Downs

There are times when life just bites you in the arse
It’s a funny way of popping your balloon
The good times come along and then they pass
Why can’t we fall in love and hold the Moon
It’s not easy when the World gets up to tricks
When your goldmine only offers loads of lead
You can try to dodge the pain that it inflicts
But it always finds the way inside your head!
At other times the roses choose to bloom
And sunlight shines when you expected rain
Or candlelight makes romance out of gloom
And friends arrive to help you take the strain
The worst of days may come before the best
Remember those and disregard the rest
