Waiting

When all that you can do is sit and wait
It’s hard to take the games your mind can play
Imperfect news can put you in a state
There is no way to have a normal day
When friends so far away are lost in pain
And all that you can do is sit and hope
Your mind and body have to take the strain
While all your thoughts just dangle on a rope
A single word can make you catch a breath
There’s nothing you can do to make it right
Does silence indicate there’s been a death
Does “DAMN” decide the patient said goodnight
A careless word and life must take a break
I wonder how much mere that she can take
