Waiting for your call

[A stream tumbling]
From pool to pool the water flows
Softly tinkling as it falls
I smell a single English rose
And wait for lovers calls

The grasses wash their leaves and bask
Dragonflies just scoot and play
I edge into my self made task
To speak to you today

The singing water flows on still
It keeps the flowers growing
I hope you’ll call, I know you will
Such love is in the knowing

A sparrow lands and takes a drink
The dragonfly’s in hiding
I hold the phone and lie and think
On you my hopes are riding

The sound of water hidden now
The birds fly in distress
I grab the phone to end the row
And hear your one word

“Yes”
