Walking by night

I love the English countryside at night,
Although I find my dreams are far away,
Beneath the Moon’s reflected silver light.
The glory of the sky will bring delight,
The land beneath is better seen by day;
I love the English countryside at night.
The half-seen walls appear to be just right,
Each different stone is painted midnight grey,
Beneath the Moon’s reflected silver light.
With luck I’ll see a snowy owl in flight
Or catch a glimpse of badgers at their play,
I love the English countryside at night.
If you would walk with me to see each sight.
I know that you would see the world my way,
Beneath the Moon’s reflected silver light.
When midnight finds the glories at their height
And I am where I’d always want to stay,
I love the English countryside at night,
Beneath the Moon’s reflected silver light.
