We’re All Doomed!

Each day the World grows more divided
And centrist views are derided
All sides want to fight
Since they know that they’re right
A compromise must be misguided
“We’ve won” every winner will scream
Before turning still more extreme
One vote is enough
If we’re killing you “tough!”
Seems sanity’s only a dream
“If you’re poor it’s your fault I don’t care!
I’m rich and I don’t want to share”
“All property’s theft
Chant the youth from the left”
Common sense can’t be found anywhere.
I doubt that we’re going to survive
There’s no chance our species will thrive
Without some new thinking
The potion we’re drinking
Will leave no-one worthwhile alive

Each single idea is a drug
When minds are this small
There’s no thinking at all
But must people look on and shrug
“They’ll pay for my wall you just wait
Because I know that I’m truly great!”
“There is no cash for you
And there’s nowt you can do”
“I can I shall shut down the state!”
“Integration is what we all need
We’ll get there at close to light speed”
“The people will wear it
If we only dare it
(And pretend that it’s not down to greed)
