What should this be?

A poem should be what you dream.
A piece of language made supreme.
Painting pictures in the mind
Prose and beauty co-refined.
It ought to flow with ease and grace
With all its parts in perfect place.
For me it also ought to rhyme,
Though not all “free verse” is a crime.
A poem’s never prose that’s snipped-
Or long words with their meaning stripped
A poem is the way, I feel,
That best makes all emotions real.
