What’s the point

A friend is there when you just need to talk
And all the rest are quick to turn away;
If you’re alone they know the way you walk,
They find you there on every dreary day.
A friend will know the time to make you stop
And know the times to let you carry on.
They’ll laugh with you when you are at the top,
Yet still be there when all the rest have gone.
A friend is one who doesn’t need to speak,
You know they’re there without a second glance;
With half an eye they write the right critique
But they will always give another chance.
We may not keep our lovers to the end
But what’s the point of life without a friend.
