Where have all the Pteranodons gone?

Where have all the Pteranodons gone?

There used to be a mosasaur that lazed around our pond
My brother kept iguanodons and grew extremely fond
My Dad’s velociraptor used to chase us every day
But I just want pteranodons to help me fly away.

Tyrannosaurus Rex may be most small boys’ biggest wish
A brontosaurus could be fun around the water dish
My friend’s quetzalcoatlus used to tease his dog in play
But no-one sells pteranodons so I can’t fly away

An allosaurus we call Al chased footballs at our park
A sarcosuchus on the beach caused panic after dark
My parents thought compsognathus could not lead me astray
Why can’t I find pteranodons to carry me away?

A feathered pterodactyl used to flutter round the tree
A silly stegasaurus thought its mother could be me
But one things always missing from this ancient cabaret
A flock of tame pterandons that want to fly away

My own ankylosaurus loves to hurry to my call
But when he clubs the neighbours the appeal begins to pall
And so I wrote this poem ’cause I felt the need to say
I want some nice pteranodons to carry me away!
