\nThrough a wet and gloomy city
\nSadness walks a weary way.
\nLike a government committee
\nSadness knows not what to say.<\/p>\n
Under skies stained black with raindrops;
\nBusy workers scurry past,
\nOthers walking or at bus-stops
\nWatch their lives slip by too fast.<\/p>\n
In the crowd alone and tearful;
\nWhere she hopes and waits for news.
\nSee her face so drawn and fearful,
\nAll she has she thinks she’ll lose.<\/p>\n
In a room that’s far above her
\nMen are fighting in her cause.
\nStanding back the friends that love her
\nFeel their lives are put on pause.<\/p>\n
Is it hours or days she’s waited,
\nRain and gloom are on her side.
\nAll the darkness contemplated
\nSeems her hopes have been denied.<\/p>\n
Then her pocket sounds alarming!
\nFumbling fingers find her phone.
\nSuddenly her face is charming
\nAll the world is hers to own!<\/p>\n
Teams of surgeons saved her baby
\nBitter fighting, but they’ve won.
\nAnd at last she thinks that maybe
\nNormal life has now begun.<\/p>\n
