Christmas afternoon

\nI prodded him and poked him, I jumped upon his toes
\nI whistled in his ear hole. Then I tweaked him on the nose
\nEven when I offered to make a pot of tea;
\nHe only opened half an eye to say “yes please” to me.
\nI know he isn’t dead yet, though he’s very very old
\nBecause if he was a dead-un he’d be very much more cold.
\nIt isn’t that he’s hiding I know he wants me to…<\/p>\n
