\nHard and fast rock music was the rule
\nWhile German sailors drank ’til they were ill.<\/p>\n
One Day Epstein heard them on a disk.
\nRock history was changed for ever more.
\nThe Beatles were for him a real risk
\nBut now they’re part of all our music lore.<\/p>\n
Imagine that he hadn’t met with Paul
\nThe Sixties would have had no sound at all<\/p>\n
Yoko Ono was his second wife
\nA soul-mate for this tortured man of rock
\nTogether they took on the world of strife
\nBy lying in a bed in search of shock<\/p>\n
The songs that he composed in later years
\nBrought politics and music into bed.
\nImagine that the world was free of fears,
\nImagine all the people were well led.<\/p>\n
The life that brought a voice to all of us.
\nWas ended by a fan one fateful day.
\nA madman with a gun caused all the fuss,
\nHe turned our icon’s image back to clay<\/p>\n
No more of Lennon’s songs will ever be.
