Together in a leather notebook

\nThe old leather notebook her love was inside
\nA sonnet she wrote for each day of the year
\nLove sent each morning in softest cowhide
\nMeant for the days that we couldn’t be near<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 She sat by the stream where our love was the strongest
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Garlands of dragonflies played round her head
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Writing of days when our love would last longest
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 With only our longing to keep passions fed<\/p>\n
Pages created, each filled with her feeling
\nLove in each word for our long year apart
\nTenderly bringing each word’s fresh apealling
\nEach brand new day meant our love could restart<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Unbuttoned her soft silken dress while still writing
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Knowing I’d feel where her nakedness lay
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For over a year there would be no requiting
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Only her words could be fond lovers play<\/p>\n
Fire on each page from a pen filled with needing
\nLove in each word from a heart that would pine
\nThe feelings she wrote were all there in the reading
\nI knew that her heart had been poured into mine<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The gold on the cover reflected within it
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Treasure she poured into phrase after phrase
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Each day a new page and I longed to begin it
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 So into her dreaming my love could then gaze<\/p>\n
After each poem I kissed her soft leather
\nWaiting and hoping we’d soon be together<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Tenderly kissing each page as she ended
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Passing her love to her only intended<\/p>\n
Home from our stream where our love is the strongest
\nThis year spent apart in my life is the longest<\/p>\n

Mine is imagined as her writing and me reading “the sonnet of the day” both
\nhalves being sonnet-like but not in fact sonnets. Read her poem first please,
