\nSecond class mail is getting much slower
\nStandards of service now even lower,
\nMost of it junk mail heading for landfill,
\nOr charity mailshots trading on goodwill.
\nThe van’s slowing down fry-up is calling
\nDelays to the mails are something appalling<\/p>\n
Stamps cost a fortune come in a book
\nIs this the right one where can I look?
\nPackages, parcels, low business rate
\nAll in one post van and all of it late
\nCard from your Mother, “Best Wishes” son
\nJust has you guessing “Now what have I done?”<\/p>\n
Postie is dawdling, stops for a fag
\nChats to a neighbour, has a good drag
\nClatter of envelopes crash to the mat
\nMost are for next-door, he’s scared of their cat
\nCatalogue filled with ladies undressing,
\nStudy that later, I don’t mind confessing!
\nBill for some services I haven’t had
\nThe late Birthday Present I bought for my Dad.<\/p>\n
All that I’m waiting for hasn’t arrived;
\nOf toys and amusements I’m sadly deprived.
\nThe train doesn’t bring them it’s all done by van;
\nDelays and diversions where-ever they can.
\nSomewhere in his grave I can hear Auden spinning
\nAnd no-one can doubt why it’s email that’s winning!!!<\/p>\n
