Thirty pupils what a capture
\nMiddle-aged but source of rapture
\nEvery word and all the feeling
\nOne small schoolboy’s mind was reeling<\/p>\n
O I hae killed my reid-roan steid,
\n That erst was sae fair and frie O.\u2019
\n \u2018Your steid was auld, and ye hae gat mair,
\n Edward, Edward,<\/p>\n
Ancient scene now recreated
\nEvery nuance baldly stated
\nLanguage tough but understood
\nMac was ruler of this ‘hood<\/p>\n
He it was who fired my spark
\nShowed me how to light the dark
\nPerfect rhythm, sharpest rhyme
\nAlways get the lines to time<\/p>\n
And whatten penance will ye drie for that?

A day I found my mind had changed
