\nDisdainful, dismissive and something else too
\nThe air of a Queen whose a who’s a whole lot to do
\nHer Father disowned her, both siblings went mad
\nNot a good start for the best we have had<\/p>\n
Astute politician and fond of the arts
\nWe soon become chums as the 12:04 starts
\nShe speaks of the theatre, she writes well in rhyme
\nHer “Royal Variety” best of all time<\/p>\n
She speaks of the ships that keep her realm free
\nHer Father’s reign taught her the need for the sea
\nHer voice has the power and strength to beguile
\nAnd lovers must melt in the face of that smile<\/p>\n
We talk of her Cousin who wishes her dead
\nThe struggles she’s had not to cut off her head
\nShe ended the burnings for religious belief
\nFor the\u00a0 numbers that suffered she shudders in grief<\/p>\n
Spies all around her, all watched by her own
\nWary the back that is pressed to the throne
\nShe talks of the world and her worries of Spain
\nThe pope switching sides for political gain<\/p>\n
As we sit talking of that and of this
\nI look at her mouth and I think of a kiss
\nI write her a sonnet, a new form she adores
\nThe look in her eyes says her new suitor scores!<\/p>\n
