{"id":2739,"date":"2023-11-26T20:28:13","date_gmt":"2023-11-26T20:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=2739"},"modified":"2023-11-28T22:00:01","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T22:00:01","slug":"inside-and-out","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/i-poems\/inside-and-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Inside and out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Inside and out<br \/>\nby cricketjeff on May 15, 2008.\u00a0 \u00a9 Jeff Green, All rights reserved<br \/>\nGathering in the distance<br \/>\ndark and foreboding<br \/>\nfilling the horizon.<\/p>\n<p>Safe and warm<br \/>\nwe wait<br \/>\nheavy atmosphere<br \/>\nand electricity<br \/>\ntension builds<\/p>\n<p>The sound of the wind<br \/>\nbuilding slowly<br \/>\nthe lights flicker<\/p>\n<p>Outside<br \/>\ngetting cooler<br \/>\ndarker<br \/>\nthe horizon<br \/>\ndraws nearer<\/p>\n<p>She draws nearer to me<br \/>\nlooking through the window<br \/>\nand tensing<br \/>\nnot talking now<\/p>\n<p>The first flash<\/p>\n<p>bright<\/p>\n<p>a pause<\/p>\n<p>then the rumble<\/p>\n<p>Dark now<br \/>\nlike late evening<br \/>\non a Summer afternoon<\/p>\n<p>The first drops<br \/>\nexplode<br \/>\nwith drum beats<\/p>\n<p>Leaves and flowers<br \/>\ndance joyously<br \/>\nconcrete becomes<br \/>\nabstract art<\/p>\n<p>Two flashes<\/p>\n<p>Loud crashes<br \/>\nscarcely a gap<\/p>\n<p>The wind rips at the trees<br \/>\nrain batters the Earth<\/p>\n<p>She holds me<br \/>\nshivering<br \/>\nas the flashes<br \/>\nbecome insistent<br \/>\nshe kisses me<\/p>\n<p>White knuckles and urgent need<br \/>\nwind and thunder<br \/>\ndrumming rain<\/p>\n<p>Passion<\/p>\n<p>The storm outside<br \/>\na storm within<\/p>\n<p>Later<\/p>\n<p>The storm passes<br \/>\nshe relaxes<br \/>\nI smile<\/p>\n<p>I wonder if she really likes a storm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inside and out by cricketjeff on May 15, 2008.\u00a0 \u00a9 Jeff Green, All rights reserved Gathering in the distance dark and foreboding filling the horizon.
