My princess knelt to seek my hand
\nAnd I, the fool, bade her proceed.
\nBefore I’d time to understand
\nShe plucked my heart and watched it bleed.

\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How could I know she came to feed,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Before I found my grave mistake,
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 She plucked my heart and watched it bleed.
\nThe fruit she sought was ripe and firm,
\nThe product of the finest seed.
\nNo mercy for this hapless worm,
\nShe plucked my heart and watched it bleed.

\nA warning that all fools should heed,
\nI’ve lost my soul and all because

\nI took this harpy as my wife

\nA Kyrielle sonnet is not (in my mind, others don’t agree with me!) strictly a
\nsonnet but perhaps a fourteen line poem in iambic tetrameter rhymed either AabB
\nccbB ddbB AB or AbaB cbcB dbdB AB where the capital letters represent not just
\nthe rhyme but a repeated line.<\/p>\n
