Behind the door

\nBeneath a wilting weeping willow tree
\nAll bound in silver bands I found a box
\nInside the silvered box I found a key
\nAnd when you find a key you look for locks<\/p>\n
Between two roots I think I see a door
\nIts hinges hide inside their rust and age
\nAn ancient stone the threshold on the floor
\nMy curiosity takes centre stage<\/p>\n
The key I found unlocks the passageway
\nThe door protests but opens with a creak
\nWithin my head a warning seems to say
\nWithin this door no mortal man may speak<\/p>\n
I pass the door but what will be behind
\nThere must be ancient secrets here to find<\/p>\n
Beneath the wilting weeping willow tree
\n The dwarfs who hewed the valley lie in sleep
\n They will not rise while men are walking free
\n The sleep of countless ages still hangs deep<\/p>\n
I pick my way past countless sleeping shapes
\n Towards a light upon the farthest wall
\n Another door beneath some heavy drapes
\n So tiny that to pass I have to crawl<\/p>\n
Behind this door the scene is full of life
\n An elven army work to save the land
\n Repairing all the worst of human strife
\n Complaining that we do not understand<\/p>\n
It seems the world’s not ours to wreck and spoil
\n Her beauty is the fruit of other’s toil<\/p>\n
Beneath the wilting weeping willow tree
\nI steal away in silence to my world
\nTo safely put away the magic key
\nAnd leave the dwarfs all sleeping where they’re curled<\/p>\n
I’ll try to tell the people that I meet
\nThat they should take more care of Mother Earth
\nI know my mission cannot be complete
\nUntil all men know what the world is worth<\/p>\n
If you should walk in woods and chance to find
\nA box all tightly bound in silver bands
\nYou’ll see a door and know what lies behind
\nAnd know the world’s the work of other’s hands<\/p>\n
So take a while to think in all you do
