{"id":3289,"date":"2023-11-26T20:27:52","date_gmt":"2023-11-26T20:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=3289"},"modified":"2023-11-28T19:40:39","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T19:40:39","slug":"happily-ever-after","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/h-poems\/happily-ever-after\/","title":{"rendered":"Happily ever after"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Happily ever after<br \/>\nby cricketjeff on September 30, 2008.\u00a0 \u00a9 Jeff Green, All rights reserved<br \/>\n[Posts%20by%20cricketjeff%203_files\/50b4d07c200648aa59cab914a6b7ffe2.jpg]<\/p>\n<p>This feisty fairy found the magic mirror all alone<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 And summoned up the spell to meet a mate.<br \/>\nBefore the fairy found it it was working on its own<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 And settling the great affairs of state.<br \/>\nThe mirror isn&#8217;t happy, so it plays a little joke,<br \/>\nThe fairy&#8217;s hopes of happiness may disappear in smoke.<\/p>\n<p>From foaming fogs that seem to sing an image soon appears,<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 A mediaeval castle on a hill.<br \/>\nSo dark and black and overgrown, forgotten through the years<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 And deep within its curtain all is still.<br \/>\n&#8220;You&#8217;ll find your doom, in tower room, atop that brooding pile.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe nymph now thinks she&#8217;s struck it rich and flies off with a smile.<\/p>\n<p>Two hundred years ago a witch was not the least amused<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 When she was told to pack her broom and fly.<br \/>\nShe left in haste but was not chased, the courtiers were bemused<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 By dreadful spells that echoed from on high.<br \/>\n&#8220;You&#8217;ll have to sleep and rot away until the wedding day&#8221;<br \/>\nThe foolish folk will have to stay while years are whiled away.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 The fairy flies to find the room<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Where magic says she&#8217;ll meet her doom.<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 The mirror whispers to each cat<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8220;I wonder what she&#8217;ll make of that&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 The nasty glass is filled with glee,<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 At all the sadness he will see.<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 Yet things are seldom as they seem,<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 When fairy folk begin to dream.<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 I know that you will understand &#8211;<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 There&#8217;s been a change in fairyland.<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 Our fairy is a modern girl<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The mirror&#8217;s scheme is in a whirl.<\/p>\n<p>Asleep in bed atop the tower, with dreams of whips and boots<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 And not to wake without a loving kiss.<br \/>\nThe fairy flies to meet her fate, and follow her pursuits,<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 She&#8217;s such a bold and sexy little miss.<br \/>\nPrepared to kiss, and more besides, to get the love she&#8217;s craved.<br \/>\nI wonder if she thinks about the others she&#8217;ll have saved.<\/p>\n<p>She finds the room, the sleeping royal, it&#8217;s all that she has dreamed,<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 A perfect end to quite a tiring flight.<br \/>\nThe mirror sees and worries that it&#8217;s not as he has schemed<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 Instead of wrong it&#8217;s turning out quite right,<br \/>\nThe princess wakes to fairy kiss and finds a perfect day,<br \/>\nWho would have guessed the fairy and the princess are both gay!<\/p>\n<p>In modern times two girls can wed and so they tie the knot;<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 The castle wakes to gaiety and joy.<br \/>\nThe ancient days have passed away, their bigotry forgot.<br \/>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 It&#8217;s girl on girl and also boy on boy.<br \/>\nSo everyone is happy with the way the story ends,<br \/>\nI wish that life was just the same as all my let&#8217;s pretends.<\/p>\n<p> Author notes<br \/>\nThe picture is the prompt and is Secret Visions by manips-of-artist2 on<br \/>\ndeviantart<\/p>\n<p>Sorry about the word count it&#8217;s not a lot over &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happily ever after by cricketjeff on September 30, 2008.\u00a0 \u00a9 Jeff Green, All rights reserved [Posts%20by%20cricketjeff%203_files\/50b4d07c200648aa59cab914a6b7ffe2.jpg] This feisty fairy found the magic mirror all alone \u00a0 \u00a0 And summoned up the spell to meet a mate.
