Christmas time

\nEach Christmas time means family, and lots to eat and drink
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 And walking in the woods to ease the load
\nWe talk to friends and hear their news and settle down to think
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 And eat some more to see if we’ll explode
\nAnd Christmas time means Dr Who and girls in too much rouge
\nAnd Patrick Stewart must appear as Ebeneezer Scrooge<\/p>\n
My daughter likes to be the hub of all the fun and games
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 My eldest son adores to have a moan
\nI know that they will squabble and make up inventive names
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 I’m pleased the two of them have never grown
\nAnd Christmas time means time to cook and sausages and ham
\nAnd sneaking in the kitchen for a Yorkshire pud and jam<\/p>\n
My youngest son has been away at university
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 He’s back to tell us tales of every deed
\nWhile number two drinks coffee and the rest of us drink tea
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 And contemplate a turkey load of greed
\nAnd Christmas time means books to read and presents to unwrap
\nA pretty girl plays Peter Pan with lots of thigh to slap<\/p>\n
Then off to see my Mum and Dad and Auntie Buddy too
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The roads are clear and driving there is fun
\nThere’s pictures of my siblings and some chat of all that’s new
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 And kisses are exchanged with everyone
\nAnd Christmas time means poetry to no-one else but me
\nI settle down when they’re asleep and writing sets me free<\/p>\n
I choose my favourite verses and decide which ones to read
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 And know that I’ll enjoy all that you write
\nThe lines and words all trickle in as water for the seed
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 That’s sure to grow to happy dreams tonight
\nAnd Christmas time means so much more since I encountered you
\nThe New Year seems to beckon with so many things to do<\/p>\n
It’s boxing day the sky is blue I’m smiling at the sky
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The Robin’s singing songs of days like this
\nMy wooden aeroplane is here suggesting I should fly
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 To find a place where I could find some bliss
\nAnd Christmas time means dreaming dreams of all that we could be
