The State of the World Today

\nThere’s a chap they call Obama, makes the US rather calmer,
\nAnd he’s gonna show the world what he can do.
\nIf you’re a banker or a farmer, you may hope his helpful karma,
\nBrings a rather swift improvement just for you.<\/p>\n
In this global credit crunching he is down on business lunching
\nAnd your bonuses are gonna feel the squeeze.
\nSo keep working while you’re munching or his team will do some punching,
\nWhile he hopes he can retrieve us from our knees.<\/p>\n
Over here we’re Gordon Browning, he lives in the street called Downing,
\nHe’s a Scot whose canniness has gone awry.
\nHe is famous for his frowning while his cabinet is clowning
\nAnd he says he’ll save the World as it flies by.<\/p>\n
There are European powers, who are nattering for hours,
\nAnd who hope we’ll fall asleep before they speak.
\nThey’ll escape they iv’ry towers and spread lots of pretty flowers
\nAnd expect we’ll all be better by next week.<\/p>\n
But still we’ve global warming and dictators busy swarming
\nRound the honeypot we know as Western aid
\nBut as long as they’re performing and their troops are ripe for storming
\nWe’ll ignore the way their many friends are paid<\/p>\n
No-one knows what they are doing or quite what they are pursuing
\nBut politicos can never say “Dunno”
\nStill I’m sure that “just a few”ing and some swift judicious shoeing
\nWill get International trading on the go<\/p>\n
So good luck to young Obama who has made the US calmer
\nAnd good luck to all the rest who have to try
\nEvery banker help a farmer to restore his sense of karma
