\nBut memories are clearer than his eyes.
\nInside his mind, in perfect clarity,
\nHe visits friends to make his last goodbyes.<\/p>\n
His wife is there, in Summer on the beach,
\nTheir daughter, laughing, buried in the sand.
\nAnd now their son’s first concert is in reach,
\nSo proudly on the stage before the band.<\/p>\n
The pain of war, the ecstasy of peace;
\nToday is not as real as yesterday.
\nIn time he knows the daily grind will cease,
\nHe’s ready now to gently slip away.<\/p>\n
He’ll keep the only treasures that he owns –
