In Umbleania by the Sea
\nThey use the strangest currency,
\nInstead of coins they use the seeds
\nOf hippo-eating, purple, weeds.
\nThese seeds, called oops, are five feet tall
\nAnd hardly ever seen at all.<\/p>\n
Since oops are rare the country’s poor,
\nThe King set out to find some more.
\nThe Army searched along the beach,
\nWhere nothing grew within their reach.
\nThe airforce scanned the mountaintops,
\nWhich aren’t renowned for heavy crops.<\/p>\n
The navy used a submarine
\nBut only found a dolphin bean
\n(They’re long and red and very strange
\nBut only used as pocket change).
\nSo poverty just grew and grew
\nThey needed to do something new.<\/p>\n
The King, so wise (his name is Bob),
\nDecided he could do the job.
\nHe set out in a new decree
\nA change to local currency;
\nThe oop is out, it’s been replaced
\nBy something much less hippo based.<\/p>\n

\nOf fire breathing bongaloes,
\nBut bongaloes all live elsewhere
\nAnd don’t have toes they want to share!<\/p>\n

\nUm, yes well, you think the economy in other countries is any more sane?<\/p>\n
BTW if any of you has a photo of a “hippo-eating, purple weed”, an oop or a
\nbongalo I would be very happy to add it as an illustration …<\/p>\n
For those who have never visited this beautiful country, on the borders of
\nTasmania, Angola and Spain, its name is pronounced Umble-ania the first half
\nrhyming with humble, the second with the ania of Romania. It is a low-lying,
\nlandlocked, mountainous country, with an extensive coastline. It is ruled by
\nKing Bob XXXXIV.<\/p>\n
The bongalo is now rather rare, it is a gangly creature resembling a cross
\nbetween a two legged bungalow and a banjo, but slightly taller; it has fifteen
\ntoes.
\nThe Umbleanian hippo tastes rather like chicken.<\/p>\n
