\nIn Bindybandy on the Sand
\nA muses conference is planned.
\nThat’s why we poets cannot write
\nOur inspiration’s out of sight.
\nIt took the bus from Idaho –
\nTo catch the train in Hujambo.<\/p>\n
Hot air balloon above the hills
\n(It swallowed forty air-sick pills)
\nThen cross the sea by reed canoe
\n(I wouldn’t go that way, would you?)
\nTo land where all the rhinos rest,
\nBeside the Bay of Interest.<\/p>\n
A bicycle to ford the stream,
\nWhere forty thousand penguins dream,
\nThen finish off the trek on foot,
\nTo Uttermadness-Cloaked-in-Soot,
\nThe capital, I understand,
\nOf Bindybandy on the Sand.<\/p>\n
Author notes
\nBindybandy, as I am sure you all know, is one of the largest glacial islands in
\ncentral Africa. It’s lush green deserts can be clearly seen from all the
\nhighest mountains in Kansas.
\nIf you go there for your next holiday, and I’m sure many of you plan to,
\nremember me to Bert and he’ll buy you a pint …<\/p>\n
