\nI mmmmmmmm for words that slide across my tongue
\nAnd hint at things the writer can’t set free
\nSuch poetry’s the only aqualung
\nThat let’s you dive in metaphor’s rich sea<\/p>\n
I sigh for rhymes that break the reader’s heart
\nAnd meter that’s a waterfall of sound
\nPhilosophy quite worthy of Descartes
\nOr mysteries that no-one else has found<\/p>\n
The ooohs and aaahs of others if I write
\nRewards beyond the dreams of any king
\nLike kisses from the goddess of the night
\nA tune that only nightingales can sing<\/p>\n
My mistress is the language of the bard
\nMade richer by the poets of the years
\nHer intricacies I can’t disregard
\nHer subtleties are tissues for my tears<\/p>\n
In words I taste the spices of the east
\nAnd revel in a courtesan’s embrace
\nIt’s poetry not music tames this beast
\nIn verse I find the universe in place<\/p>\n
