\nReading bursts of Shakespeare to the daisies in the class
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Watching for that cheeky urban fox<\/p>\n
Writing simple verses as I nibble on a pear
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Thinking of the words to say to you
\nSomething seems to happen when there’s summer in the air
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Another little love song forms on cue<\/p>\n
Gazing at the cloudlets as they puff across the sky
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Watching martins darting high above
\nLaughing at a toddler as he drags his mother by,
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Dreaming of a night of summer love<\/p>\n
How about a picnic with some sandwiches and such?
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 A fruity wine and half a life to kill
\nI’ll do some chicken wings and bake the cake you love so much
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 We’ll eat enough to make an army ill<\/p>\n
Sit up at the back! The clover’s dropping off to sleep
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 I’ll read an epic ode to change the mood
\nOr threaten them with shepherds and a hungry flock of sheep
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 And back again to thoughts of summer food<\/p>\n
Too much work and worry makes a man a boring drudge
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Summer sun’s the cure for every ache
\nYour eyes outshine the sunlight if I’m any sort of judge
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Not seeing them is more than I can take<\/p>\n
Would you like an ice cream from the van outside the gate
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 A ninety-nine or just a simple cone?
\nTime to stop my musings or they’ll moan that I am late
