I can’t write

\nI settled down to writing,
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 started pushing words around
\nBut they would keep on fighting,
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 and they beat me to the ground
\nThey would not stay in meter
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 yet they were not fresh and free
\nYou’d think that I could beat a
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 little bit of poetry<\/p>\n
The water softly lapping
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 always sends me off to sleep
\nAnd while I lay there napping
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 (very glad it wasn’t deep)
\nI chased a case of rhyming
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 through the darkness of my mind
\nBut soon I found the timing
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 had quite left my muse behind<\/p>\n
A love song seemed appealing
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 but romance had washed away
\nI tried to be revealing
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 all about the world today
\nBut nothing good was forming
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 each attempt was looking worse
\nUntil I started warming
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 to this little nonsense verse<\/p>\n
No cod philosophising
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 (as some other people write)
\nNo rabbles roused or rising
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 to take on the people’s fight
\nI can’t get hot and steamy
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 though I wish that wasn’t true!
\nI could get soft and dreamy
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 and write down a piece of you<\/p>\n
But no, I’m busy yawning
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 I’ll shall take myself to bed
\nAnd sleep till day starts dawning
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 living life inside my head
\nGive up all thought of writing
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 thoughts of pushing words around
\nTomorrow they’ll stop fighting
