{"id":4367,"date":"2023-11-26T20:26:47","date_gmt":"2023-11-26T20:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=4367"},"modified":"2023-11-28T23:09:53","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T23:09:53","slug":"tralee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/nicewaistcoat.com\/wordpress\/t-poems\/tralee\/","title":{"rendered":"Tralee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Tralee<br \/>\nby cricketjeff on January 12, 2010.\u00a0 \u00a9 Jeff Green, All rights reserved<br \/>\nOn a softly misted morning, when the mountains miss the sea,<br \/>\nYou will hear our voices calling from the bars of Old Tralee;<br \/>\nFor however far you travel you will always be a part,<br \/>\nOf the land of winds and whiskey that was planted in your heart.<\/p>\n<p>Have you met a lass as lovely as O&#8217;Dooley&#8217;s Mary Kate,<br \/>\nOr the colleen you were kissing over Brian Dermot&#8217;s gate.<br \/>\nAre there golden-headed girlies who can treat you with a smile,<br \/>\nIn the land across the ocean where you&#8217;ll hang your hat awhile?<\/p>\n<p>Can you taste the golden sunshine in a steaming Irish stew,<br \/>\nAnd the spud and bacon coddle that was born a part of you,<br \/>\nOr a milky pint of Guinness with a whiskey by its side,<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s a little bit of Ireland that can never be denied.<\/p>\n<p>When you sleep beneath the heavens are the stars you see the same<br \/>\nAs the velvet spread of diamonds filled with friends we tried to name?<br \/>\nCan the Moon still hold you spellbound when she&#8217;s almost waned away<br \/>\nAnd you&#8217;re walking through the meadow where the fairy people play?<\/p>\n<p>You will come back home to Ireland when you&#8217;ve seen those other lands.<br \/>\nWalked through deserts filled with wonders that nobody understands,<br \/>\nConquered mountains, swum in oceans, seen what we will never see,<br \/>\nIn the green and rainy valleys round the town of Old Tralee.<\/p>\n<p> Author notes<br \/>\nTralee is an old Market town in South Western Ireland though I don&#8217;t think they<br \/>\ncall it &#8220;Old Tralee&#8221;.
