\nEvery night, as I sleep, I fall victim to dreams;
\nEvery dream in my head has an echo of you.
\nWhen I wake I’m aware that there’s nobody there;
\nEvery day is the same, dreary grey tinged with blue,
\nAny life without you is as flat as it seems.<\/p>\n
Life was full and so bright, every moment a thrill,
\nWhen you left I was left with a hole I can’t fill.<\/p>\n
When we met we were young, you were all I could hope,
\nAnd you said that I’d be by your side all your life.
\nNow you’re gone there’s no more left of you to adore,
\nWhat’s the use of a man who cannot hold his wife,
\nHow can he learn to be? How can he ever cope?<\/p>\n
I’ll hold on to the fragments I managed to save,
\nBut remember my dear all my love’s in your grave.<\/p>\n
Author notes
\nA sonnet? I dunno, but it is in anapaestic tetrameter with a rhyme scheme of
\nABccBA DD EFggFE HH, the lower case letters being internal rhymes.<\/p>\n
I don’t know if I like it as a poem and I may replace it in the contest after a
