\nSweet poetess I thank you for your words,
\nA tribute from the fair to warm my heart.
\nYou sing a tune as fine as any bird’s
\nAnd bend it to the service of our art.<\/p>\n
I know you’ll be the authoress of plays
\nAnd mould the English language to your will;
\nSo I shall take my pen to write in praise,
\nOf Florida’s first daughter of the quill.<\/p>\n
But are your lips as sweet as metered lines
\nAnd can you dance as deftly as you dream?
\nTogether we could fashion great designs
\nA pair of poets sure to reign supreme.<\/p>\n
And when your work has seen my humours fed
\nWill you become my partner in the bed?<\/p>\n

\nI fell asleep and the shade of Alexander Pope visited me and asked my to convey
\nthe above to the poetess who so praised him. (Or maybe he didn’t
