\nShe’s complaining that it’s raining
\nAnd she doesn’t have a hat
\nThen she’s moaning and she’s groaning
\nThat her bottom’s getting fat
\nHe is fussing over bussing
\nSam and Jilly off to school
\nThere’s no riot each stand quiet
\nNot the day to act the fool
\nTheir red setter knows far better
\nThan to choose this moment to
\nSay he’s needing extra feeding
\nAnd there’s “something” he must do<\/p>\n
No-one mentions all the tensions
\nIt has always been this way
\nShe ain’t happy, almost snappy
\nWhen his mother comes to stay!<\/p>\n
Little Jilly thinks they’re silly
\nBut she keeps it to herself
\nAs for Sam, he loves his Grammy
\nShe brings models for his shelf
\nAs for Dad he’s really glad he
\nIsn’t there from eight to six
\nBusy working while fate’s lurking
\nAnd preparing little tricks
\nBut for mother there’s no other
\nThoughts that enter in her head
\nBut to worry and to scurry
\nAnd to wish that she was dead<\/p>\n
No-one mentions all the tensions
\nIt has always been this way
\nShe ain’t happy, almost snappy
\nWhen his mother comes to stay!<\/p>\n
Get the broom out sweep each room out
\nHoover up the smallest speck
\nIs it dusty? Stale and musty?
\nMother’s now a nervous wreck
\nDoorbell’s ringing hands still wringing
\nSurely now it’s good enough
\nStart deep breathing, false smile wreathing
\nNext five minutes will be tough
\nAll the fretting means forgetting
\nThey don’t really need to try
\nNo-one’s sweeter when you meet her
\nMa-in-law is nice as pie!!!<\/p>\n
