\nA megalotherium wondered one day
\nWhy people got frightened and wandered away.
\nIt’s hard to be shy when your twenty feet tall,
\nBut all that he wanted was friends to play ball.
\nI said to him, Mega (since that was his name),
\nPerhaps it’s those daggers, they could be to blame.<\/p>\n

He pondered the question and said with a sigh
\n“You may be correct”, then he started to cry;
\n“It isn’t my fault that I come with these claws,
\nI want to play football and hear the applause,
\nI try to be nice to each person I meet
\nBut most of them holler and run down the street.”<\/p>\n
He made me some tea and we sat there to chat,
\nI watched as he carefully knitted a hat.
\nHis claws were the needles, he knitted and pearled
\nAnd tearfully told me his thoughts on the world.
\nHe wanted to dribble and shoot and then score,
\nAs girls on the terraces screamed out for more.<\/p>\n
He’d watched, so he said, many teams on TV,
\nInstinctively knew what he wanted to be.
\nI question his aims and his passion and thirst,
\nIf he kicks a football it’s certain to burst!
\nAnd fans may go crazy and scream till they’re deaf
\nIf he should fall over and flatten the ref.<\/p>\n
We pondered the problem, the answer was plain,
\nAnd soon mighty Mega was happy again.
\nHis fingers were perfect for plucking a string
\nAnd everyone knows that all giant sloths sing.
\nHe’s forming a band with some glyptodon mates,
\nThey’re booked on a tour of the United States.<\/p>\n
I wish the group well as they head off to play,
\nTheir megabeast metal may get you to sway.
\nI cannot be sure of a good aftermath,
\nMy friend is a little too big for the bath,
\nI doubt that his downfall will be drugs and drink,
