\nThree amphibrachs sound quite exquisite,
\nAs soon as a second three visit.
\nIf two more then follow,
\nThe sound won’t be hollow
\nAnd you won’t be asking “what is it?”<\/p>\n
It’s not like the fourteen line sonnet,
\nFew poets will ponder upon it,
\nBut if you need laughter,
\nOr something still dafter,
\nThen no other verse has outshone it.<\/p>\n
“Di-DUM-di” repeats are the basis;
\nThey rigidly maintain the stasis,
\nBut rhyme is the reason
\nThis verse form’s in season,
\nThe figs of this formal oasis.<\/p>\n
Though limerick writers keep slaving,
\nTheir content, is often past saving,
\nIt’s jokes about willies,
\nOr tits, bums and jillies,
\nAnd squadrons of nuns misbehaving.<\/p>\n
So now that the Lim’rick is mastered,
\nYou should take a shot at the bstrd,
\nI feel quite excited
\nAs soon as I’ve writed;
