\nHe seemed to be an ordinary chap,
\nQuite unprepared for fate’s unpleasant tricks.
\nOne day adventure landed in his lap
\nAnd found he had the strength to take its kicks;
\nA wizard that he knew called in for tea,
\nWith wand’ring dwarves intent on burglary.<\/p>\n
How can you steal a dragon’s stolen hoard,
\nYet not get fried and eaten as a snack?
\nConvince unwilling friends to come on board
\nAnd urge each force to join the main attack?
\nInvisibility’s a useful tool
\nAnd cunning whispered words divide and rule.<\/p>\n
A troll got turned to stone along the way
\nAnd seeds were sown for greater deeds to come;
\nAnother tale put younger folk in play,
\nA brave new age completes this hobbit’s sum.
\nGive Bilbo Baggins all the plaudits due —
\nTo one who grabbed his opening on cue.<\/p>\n
